TIL: Signs of cirrhosis - the hands

JAMA released this meta-analysis1 in 2012 detailing what physical exam and laboratory findings were associated with cirrhosis (end-stage liver disease). I was unsurprised to find that ascites, thrombocytopenia, and spider nevi were the most consistently studied findings with high likelihood ratios (LR) for a patient to have cirrhosis. I was surprised that Terry's nails had LRs of 16-22 in the two studies looking at those.
